                                                                             Minutes

Call to Order:  President Brenda Brown called the meeting to order at 6:45pm.  Trustees present:  Jody Placek-Brown, John Maurer, Beth Bartling, Kathy Mufich, Karen Koubek,   Donna Klein-Acosta.  Guests present:  Debby Smith, Patricia Smith, Fred and Diane Schlipf, Greg Kerr.

New Business:  Fred, Library Building Consultant, conducted the meeting to review and finalize a building plan.  He shared comments made during his review of the plan with the staff.  He will insert changes and send a revised copy of the plan.  The process of architect selection was presented.  Must advertise in local paper and interview 3-4 firms.   Fred offered to sit in on interviews at no fee and can provide a list of qualifications and questions to ask.

Discussion of The State of Illinois Public Library Construction Act Grant Program was conducted.    

Construction costs can be expected to be $200-300 per square foot and furnishings $15.00 per square foot.  Builders Risk insurance should be purchased as each portion is built.  Construction costs are lower if the library is relocated during constructions.  The architect should provide the carrying capacity of the library site and an operational cost analysis.  It is important to pay attention to the full project cost and not just construction costs.
